It is not often that we will be able to all be together as a family and go on an outing, but today was one such day.
We went to the annual Renaissance Fair, a celebration of arts and crafts and culture from renaissance times. A few of my kids dressed in period costumes as do many of those who attend. It was fun to see them dressed up as medieval people.
It was a pleasant surprise to not meet any traffic on the way and to have no problem parking. The crowds were not so bad this year since we were going late in the season since summer is over for most families who have kids in school. The weather was pleasant except for one thunder-burst when we got drenched with rain while watching performers on an open air stage. We were able to see several performances and musical acts which were very enjoyable. It was interesting to see some of the ancient crafts especially the glass blowing exhibit where artisans demonstrated traditional methods of blowing a glass vase.
As much as I enjoyed going to the fair with its music and the artist the best part was to be with my family. I am thankful to the Lord to share this experience with them. I wish in retrospect that I had engaged more with individuals.
I am thankful for my family and the memory of this day will be one I will cherish.
