Our car was about twenty eight years old. It kept breaking down and parts were becoming hard to find. I literally drove it into the ground, as they say. So without a car for a while I rode my bicycle to work and other places. It was a good thing which I really enjoyed and benefited from; I got in better shape by riding my bicycle and I learned a few things about myself and the world around me.
It would not have been my choice if left entirely to me, but it turned out the decision was really made by the Lord. I have often prayed for a car- in fact I think I have been praying daily for several months, praying even though I was willing to do without a car; I was willing to accept God's will if that will was to do without a car and continue to ride my bike.
This new, though used, car is so much superior than any other one I ever owned. I am in disbelief that we have it. I am thankful for the God in Heaven who is so generous and gracious to sinners as to not only give salvation but to add blessing upon blessing.

My wonderful wife kept pointing out the need for a car. We are an active family with members who go in different directions to multiple places daily, it was impossible to get my son to appointments and daughter to activities at school and church at the same time. The spring and summer are nice to ride a bike in but Maryland winters can have several feet of snow and roads covered with ice. I might be able to handle it but I am not happy about the thought of bicycling in the snow. I road the bus a few times and the bus took ten minutes longer than riding the bicycle and cost more than the amount of gas a car would use to go the same distance.
She researched and found a few cars in our budget. It was a used car. I still felt resistant but she pointed out the need and the logic. We test drove a few cars in the budget and price range. I felt a prompting to ask about another one not on her list. Looking at it I felt a peace and a leading to consider it. My amateurish inspection showed a cleaner and better maintained motor. A test drive proved it to out perform the others we tried. It turned out to be about as perfect as it could get.
